Southern Cross Cables Limited (SCCL) is a leading independent Australasian supplier of international capacity solutions to Carriers, Content Providers and Internet Service Providers connecting Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific region with the United States.
Our Story
SCCL was originally formed in 1997 to establish the Southern Cross Cable Network, a twin submarine cable link between Australasia and the United States West Coast.
The Southern Cross Cable Network is designed to provide enhanced diversity, reliability, quality, and network efficiency, with the network being further enhanced by the commissioning of the Southern Cross NEXT cable in July 2022 adding a third high-capacity route to the Southern Cross network eco-system.
The NEXT cable expands the network as a high capacity, low latency link, connecting Australia, New Zealand, and the United States with branches to Fiji, Kiribati and Tokelau. The new route provides a high capacity, ultra-low latency link between Sydney and Los Angeles, and expand the critical fibre interconnectivity of the Pacific Island region.
Southern Cross is run by a team of highly skilled management and technical people that pride themselves on delivering market relevant products and solutions, and have over 100 years of experience in the international telecommunications community. Southern Cross is dedicated to providing fast, direct and secure international bandwidth for the future.
Southern Cross Cables Limited and Pacific Carriage Limited are based in Bermuda. Southern Cross also has offices in Wellington and Auckland, New Zealand and Sydney, Australia. Southern Cross is an independent entity and is owned by Spark, SingTel/Optus, Telstra and Verizon.
