Southern Cross Landing Parties have just completed an intensive programme of skill based training.
The training programme was conducted by Brian Smith, Southern Cross’s Engineering Services Manager during May and June 2004. During this time Brian covered 11 locations in the USA, Hawaii, Fiji, Australia and New Zealand. The programme was developed by Southern Cross from documentation provided by Alcatel.
Primarily a refresher course, the training ensures that the skills of the landing parties are kept up to date and new training requirements are identified. Given the importance of the Landing Parties role, it is essential that their skills are kept current and that any skill gaps are identified and immediately addressed. “We are very satisfied with the skill levels of our landing parties and only minor skill gaps were identified. Plans to address these gaps are currently being put in place as part of the annual training programme.” Mr Smith said.
“The feedback from the Landing Parties was very positive. They appreciate being able to maintain and improve their skills and knowledge in order to better serve Southern Cross customers” Mr Smith continued.
All Landing Party staff successfully completed the training and received a skills based certificate.
