With the availability of more capacity from our latest network upgrade we have reduced prices and introduced a revolutionary new product to support hi-speed broadband.
Previously our most popular product (STM N-drop) gave ISP’s the option to increase capacity throughput by reducing their provision for restoration. The new product means ISP’s can enjoy the best of both worlds; maximum throughput with maximum protection and both are achieved at a much lower cost.
With a standard N-Drop Ring if there is a cable link failure customers are left with one working side and maximum traffic throughput is consequently effectively halved.
Now with Drop Restoration customers can fully exploit the capacity available on both sides of the ring with confidence. Maximum traffic throughput is unaffected by a SDH Drop failure because an additional preconfigured circuit on the working side is switched into service by Southern Cross within 5 minutes.
Drop Restoration means each drop is the close equivalent of our standard protected product, which has achieved 100% availability in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Currently Drop Restoration can only be applied to STM 16-2d and STM 64-2d capacity on the North-South Ring. Drop Restoration is available at no additional charge with all new purchases under 2009 Incentive Plans. Drop Restoration has already been applied on a free trial basis to existing capacity that is activated as STM 16-2d or STM 64-2d until the end of 2009. The free trial ends in December 2009 but Customers can extend the free application of Drop Restoration until November 2020 by purchasing additional capacity within the trial period.
The purchase needs to be the greater of:
• 1/4 of the capacity already purchased and activated as STM-16/64-2d, or
1 x STM-16-2d (North South)
